The one with some Crate Paper

On April 1st of this year.... (no not a joke!).... my husband officially became a licensed Civil Engineer in the province of Ontario (Professional Engineer of Ontario = PEO). I am so very proud of how hard he worked to finally get there. So when it came to scrapping the pictures from the night I wanted it to turn out really great... and for him to like it.

I have had this paper (Crate Paper) in my stash for a while. I loved it so much and have just been waiting for the perfect pictures. I really love how it turned out. Simple design overall but...hopefully....masculine enough looking for him :)

Products: Paper-Crate Paper, Chipboard letters-K&Co, Tag-misc.

Looking at these pictures it feels like just the other day that we were wishing for spring and now we are jumping right into winter! I can't believe that tomorrow is already October. That means the official start to the craziness of holidays and events in the next three months! Thanksgiving, both my brothers birthdays, Mom's birthday, my parent's anniversary, my SIL-to-be's birthday, my birthday, American thanksgiving, Christmas parties ....(we have 4 for sure already!) ... then Christmas .... and then we leave for Florida on New Years eve for our friend's cruise wedding! Phew... is going to get really crazy around here.... but its my favorite time of year :)

The one with some Glitz

First things first.... I got a new Blog Template! Much cuter than the pain Jane one I had before! I need to learn more about editing the html stuff to make it more my own... but not a bad start!

So...last night we saw Russell Peters, live at the WFCU Center here in Windsor. We had really great seats and he was sooooo funny!
It was a very windy and rainy walk in.... so we aren't looking our best here... but its about the memory right ;) Now for some scrappy stuff! I wanted to share this layout I did. Completely inspired by one piece of paper from Glitz designs. Its not usually something I would pick out, but this pink paper with the crystals hanging down was perfect for some Vegas pictures!

Here we are the the TAO nightclub at the Venetian. Lets just say that place is... CRAZY! I cut the paper out at the sides and the bottom by exacto knife and added a scrap of crazy swirls behind it. Then I added bling around on the crystals!
Being the scrapbookers that we are we had to take a picture of the cool club stamps we got at the door! :)

Products used: Bazzill Bling-cardstock, BG-chipboard, MM-glitter letters, Hambly-overlays, 7gypsies- stamp, Jenni Bowlin- scalloped journal card, Heidi Swapp-bling, Glitz-paterned paper.

The one with lots of Yennybee!

My bestest friend Jen is the hardest working girl I know! Not only does she work full time, but she has a 17 month old little boy and a side business making the cutest baby accessories EVER!!! Her business is called Yennybee Baby Designs . The other night we got creative and found an easy way to add storage to her display for next to nothing (really it was only $4 for the L brackets!!)

Here is the finished product:

Not the best picture but we finished this up around 11:30 last thursday night! So she already had two of the bookcases so what we did was take two of the shelves and atach them between the bookcases to make the illusion that it was all one piece. It looks so good now and gives her way more storage. I think it looks so professional :) (Have to give my self a pat on the back for using power tools all by myself and not messing up once!)

If you have a little one, or know someone that is expecting, you need to get on over and check out her site! She is based out of Windsor, but will ship anywhere.

In other news, I am going to see the comedian Russell Peters tonight! He is so funny, I can't wait!More scrappy posts to come this week. Had a busy weekend with my company golf outing and dinner with friends on Saturday, and brunch at the in-laws Sunday! No time to be creative, but hopefully this weekend!

The one with 2 Clip It Ups!

I think one of the best scrapbook investments I ever made has been my Clip It Ups! I got my first one in January and filled it quite quickly. Since I do have other organization systems in my space... and no more room!.... I figured I would have to wait until we re-do our basement before I could get another. Well I had a great idea out of the blue.... turn my 2x4 expidet on its side and use it as counter height storage!
Soooo.... now not only do I have enought room to move my first clip it up off my work surface, I now have room for a second one, and a cutting station for my 12x12 paper trimmer.
My other organization system in my room is a peg board. Most inexpensive way to store a lot of stuff! I got the board at home depot ($10) and the pegs at the dollar store ($15). I painted my board the same color as my walls so it doesn't stand out too much.

I found that when I used to store all my stuff in boxes in the closet I would forget what I had! This way its like shopping. I grab my photos or paper and look for stuff that will match. I remember more what I have since I see it more often and it's also very easy to keep my room looking clean this way.
Have a great night!

The one with AC albums

I {heart} my American Crafts brown cloth albums! I liked the idea of having all of my albums matching and eventually want to have them displayed in my living room so they will be seen more. The only problem I had was how to label them. As much as I loved the bookplates on the WeRMemoryKeepers albums I already invested a lot of money in these so I thougth " I can do that myself"! Using my CropADile I added inexpensive bookplates from JoAnns. I really love the way it turned out.
They fit perfectly on my Ikea Expidet bookcase! I think I need a bigger room since I have already outgrown my 2x4! Close up of the bookplates.
I rearranged my room the other day to make some space for my second Clip-It-Up. It looks more open now and very organized. I will share some pictures of my room tomorrow!

The one with BG goodness

Last weekend my mom and I decided to can some tomato sauce. In total we had almost 50 jars of sauce! Seeing all the great colors in the photos makes me want to scrap them right now...especially with all the great new fall lines that are coming out soon. I think I will wait to get my hands on some new BG Indian Summer for these pictures!

Since Basic Gray seems to be turning out so many great lines lately I thought I would share some of my recent pages. The first one is Jess and I at her birthday! Paper is from the Sugared line. (Chipboard letters are chatterbox, ribbon is AC and calandar is Jenni Bowlin)
Close up of details:

The Big Bean pictures are from our trip to Chicago last fall. I used Jessica Sprague's digital template to arrange the pictures on this one. Printed them out on a piece of photo paper and added the patterned paper and embelishments on top. Paper form the BG sultry line. (AC thickers, gin-x rubons, making memories journal paper)

I think I need to make a light box to get better pictures of my layouts... hummm... might have to be my next project!

The one with Bloom and Grow

A couple months ago we had a scrapbook night at my friend Jess' house. We made fun drinks (strawberry mist... yum!), ordered in from Armando's (pasta and pizza!) and scrapbooked all night. We tried to get a picture of all of us... its not the best but I wanted to scrap it to remeber the night and how much fun we had.

This layout features MME (My Mind's Eye) ... lately MME has been one of my favorite paper lines! This is their Bloom and Grow line... so cute!

I also made a couple cards with the scraps left over. I love to use up every bit of paper I have! These cards were mostly pieces of paper already cut in these sizes. Just added some letter stickers and embelishments.

I spent most of tonight taking pictures of my favorite layouts so I can get them up here on the blog. Lots of Basic Gray goodness for tomorrow's post!
